infection among children with Febrile Seizure, Bandar Abbas, Iran}, abstract ={Introduction: Febrile seizure is a common disorder in children with an unknown etiology. Viral infection such as herpes virus type 6 (HHV-6) has been suggested. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of HHV-6 infection among children with febrile seizure who had referred to Bandar Abbas children hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional study conducted between 118 children aged 6 month to 5 years old without any history of epilepsy and major infectious diseases. Demographic data and family history of seizure, time of onset for febrile seizure and clinical characteristics gathered. At the beginning of the study and 10 days later a serum sample obtained. IgG against HHV-6 measured by ELISA method. Chi-square test was used to compare the frequency of risk factors in two groups of infected and non-infected patients by HHV-6. Results: 53 patients including 30 boys (56.6%) and 23 girls completed the study (mean age: 19.5±9.9 months). The HHV-6 test was positive for 23 children and the remaining 30 were negative. There were not any significant differences in frequency of major or minor risk factors of recurrent febrile seizure between two groups. 21.7% whom infected by HHV-6 vs. 1 child in negative group had longer than 15 minutes postictal phase (P<0.05). Conclusion: Forty three percent of the children with febrile seizure had infected by HHV-6. There were not any significant differences in clinical characteristics of the disease and frequency of risk factors for recurrent febrile seizure.Introduction: Febrile seizure is a common disorder in children with an unknown etiology. This study reports a behavior approach used to evaluate the effects of an occupational safety training intervention on industrial textile workers. Methods: This study is a quasi-experimental based on Solomon 4-group design participatory study, which is conducted as pretest-post-test intervention. A sample of 85 workers of a textile factory participated in this study. A questionnaires and a behavior observation checklist were developed exclusively for this study. The required substantial data for intervention planning were resulted based on findings due to conducting four first phases of precede-proceed model. A combination concept of Precede-Proceed model and theory of Reasoned Action were utilized in planning and implementing the interventions. Our package consisted of training, assigned goal setting, daily verbal praise, and graphic feedback that were provided four times a week. Analysis of data was performed using Minitab software. Descriptive statistics and t-test and analysis of variance were used for comparisons between groups. Results: The mean scores on knowledge and safety practices showed significant improvement among all four groups in one month and three months post intervention; with groups 1 and 2 show the highest improvement. Hence, this study was conducted to evaluate the effects of attentional focus instructions on learning of balance skill amongst patients with Parkinson disease. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, all Parkinson's disease patients referred to neurology clinic were examined by a neurologist and 23 patients who met the inclusion criteria of this study were evaluated using Berg balance scale. They were randomly assigned to control, external, and internal groups. The participants of each group practiced Berg balance scale for five days and then conducted the retention test, 72 hours after the last session. To compare the results of 4 stages of practice, analysis of variance for repeated data was used and P<0.05 was considered statistical significant. Results: Using Berg balance scale revealed that the participants' balance improved in all control, internal and external groups regarding performance and retention. The comparison between the groups also showed that although the external group performed better than the other two groups, there was no significant difference between them regarding performance and retention. Conclusion: The results of this study confirmed the effect of practice on improvement of balance skill amongst patients with Parkinson's disease. Since Apgar score is the first investigation indicator of neonate health, this study was conducted to investigate the relation between GDM and neonate Apgar score. Methods: This study is a case-control one, in which 50 neonates from mothers suffering from GDM and 100 neonates from healthy ones born in 2005-2010 in Vali-e-Asr hospital, Fasa, Iran, were selected randomly based on their medical file numbers. The cases were homogeneous regarding gestational age and were compared regarding their fetal features and apgar score in the first and fifth minutes after the birth. Then, Apgar score of the neonates from healthy mothers and those suffering from GDM were compared by T-test. Then using multivariate regresion, the relation between GDM and the neonate Apgar score were investigated after omitting confounder factors effect. Results: The average age of the mothers suffering from GDM and control group were 31.5±5.0 and 27.6±6.3 years old, respectively. Also, the average gestational age of the former and the later were 37.9±1.6 and 38.3±1.7 weeks, respectively. Apgar score of the first minute in the neonates of the former and the later were 8.6±0.6 and 8.7±0.7, respectively (P=0.157). But, Apgar score of the fifth minute in the former 9.5±0.6 was significantly lower than the later 9.8±0.4 (P=0.002). Regression analysis showed that the difference between Apgar score of the fifth minute in both groups wasn’t affected by confounder variables and this was just due to GDM. Conclusion: Since Apgar score of the fifth minute in the neonates from the mothers suffering from GDM was significantly lower than those from healthy ones and due to the fact that apgar score indicator decrease leads to some disorders and problems in the neonates from the mothers suffering from GDM, taking the neonates into consideration as much as possible would be helpful in improving health level.}, Keywords = {Gestational Diabetes,Apgar Score,Pregnancy Outcome,}, volume = {17}, Number = {5}, pages = {0-0}, publisher = {Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences}, url = {http://hmj.hums.ac.ir/article-1-1892-en.html}, eprint = {http://hmj.hums.ac.ir/article-1-1892-en.pdf}, journal = {Hormozgan Medical Journal}, issn = {2423-3528}, eissn = {2423-3536}, year = {2013} } @article{ author = {Azizi, M. and Solati, M. and Farrokhseresht, R. and Zare, S. and Mahboobi, H.R. and Khorgoei, T. and Golkhar, B.}, title = {Assessment of bone density in post meonopause women referred to Shahid Mohammadi hospital for bone densitometry in 2010, Bandar Abbas, Iran}, abstract ={}, Keywords = {Osteoporosis,Densitometry,Menopause,Women,}, volume = {17}, Number = {5}, pages = {0-0}, publisher = {Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences}, url = {http://hmj.hums.ac.ir/article-1-1891-en.html}, eprint = {http://hmj.hums.ac.ir/article-1-1891-en.pdf}, journal = {Hormozgan Medical Journal}, issn = {2423-3528}, eissn = {2423-3536}, year = {2013} } @article{ author = {Rahmati, MD and Monzavi, MD and Mohebbi, MD and Houshmandi, Mohammd Mehdi and Malekmohammadi, MD and Hamedi, PhD}, title = {Effects of intranasal corticosteroids on decrease of adenoid hypertrophy in children}, abstract ={}, Keywords = {Adenoid,Steroids,Obstruction,}, volume = {17}, Number = {5}, pages = {0-0}, publisher = {Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences}, url = {http://hmj.hums.ac.ir/article-1-1890-en.html}, eprint = {http://hmj.hums.ac.ir/article-1-1890-en.pdf}, journal = {Hormozgan Medical Journal}, issn = {2423-3528}, eissn = {2423-3536}, year = {2013} } @article{ author = {Karimi, MSc and Safaei, PhD Student and Arkani, MSc and Vahedi, PhD Student and Mohebi, PhD and Fatemi, MD and Vafaei, MD and Zali, MD}, title = {Association of leptin gene (rs 7799039) polymorphism and colorectal cancer}, abstract ={}, Keywords = {Colorectal Cancers,Leptin,Polymorphism,}, volume = {17}, Number = {5}, pages = {0-0}, publisher = {Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences}, url = {http://hmj.hums.ac.ir/article-1-1889-en.html}, eprint = {http://hmj.hums.ac.ir/article-1-1889-en.pdf}, journal = {Hormozgan Medical Journal}, issn = {2423-3528}, eissn = {2423-3536}, year = {2013} } @article{ author = {Haghirasadat, PhD Student and Nazari, MSc Student and Omodi, PhD Student and Azimzadeh, PhD Student and Sheikhha, PhD}, title = {Investigating the rate of glutathione S-transferase T1 and M1 genes deletion in patients with lung cancer}, abstract ={}, Keywords = {glutathione S-transferse,GSTM1,GSTT1,Lung Cancer,}, volume = {17}, Number = {5}, pages = {0-0}, publisher = {Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences}, url = {http://hmj.hums.ac.ir/article-1-1888-en.html}, eprint = {http://hmj.hums.ac.ir/article-1-1888-en.pdf}, journal = {Hormozgan Medical Journal}, issn = {2423-3528}, eissn = {2423-3536}, year = {2013} } @article{ author = {Shahbazi, A. and Zaman, J. and Asgharzadeh, M. and Spotin, A. and Jeddi, S.}, title = {Genetic mutations in 57 and 58 codons gene of Plasmodium vivax dihydrofolate reductase}, abstract ={}, Keywords = {Plasmodium Vivax,Sulfadoxine,Pyrimethamine,Dihydrofolate Reductase,Drug Reresistance,}, volume = {17}, Number = {5}, pages = {0-0}, publisher = {Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences}, url = {http://hmj.hums.ac.ir/article-1-1887-en.html}, eprint = {http://hmj.hums.ac.ir/article-1-1887-en.pdf}, journal = {Hormozgan Medical Journal}, issn = {2423-3528}, eissn = {2423-3536}, year = {2013} } @article{ author = {Rahimi, A. and EghbalEftekhaari, T.}, title = {Infertility associated with hematochezia: A complication of perforated appendicitis}, abstract ={Introduction: Infection and inflammation of organs adjacent to gastrointestinal tract may cause a pathological connection.
